St Bart's entry is permitted to all visitors traveling from the European Union and from other foreign countries. The entry requirements and St Barts travel restrictions are divided into vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors. However, St Bart's borders are closed to Red zone countries unless they meet requirements of compelling reasons.
St Barts Entry Requirements for Visitors from EU & Other Countries
Vaccinated visitors from the European Union (Green Zone)
Since June 9th, 2021, St Barts’ borders are open to all visitors from European Union and to all other visitors from foreign countries with valid passports for St Barts. The entry protocol to St Barts for prevention against the covid-19 virus is as follows:
• Proof of full vaccination – all visitors 18 + years old must be able to provide vaccination cards when requested by a villa rental agency, airline, or hotel. Children under 18 years old are exempt from vaccinating.
• A negative rt-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus obtained by nasopharyngeal swab taken within 72 hours prior departure is mandatory for all visitors 10+ years old or negative Antigen test taken within 48 hours prior arrival regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated visitors from the European Union (Green Zone)
Unvaccinated travelers from the European Union must meet the following restrictions to enter St Barts:
• Negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival (10+ years old).
• Quarantine for 7 days upon arrival following with PCR test at the end of this period.
Unvaccinated visitors from the European Union can explore St Barts, go to the beaches, town, perform hikes and other sports if they agree to wear masks when visiting town and stay away from crowded places. It is not permitted to visit restaurants and boutiques during 7 day self-isolation.
Vaccinated visitors from an Orange Zone country
Vaccinated travelers from orange zone countries must meet the following restrictions to enter St Barts:
• Proof of full vaccination
• Negative PCR test taken within 72 hours or Antigen test taken within 48 hours
Unvaccinated visitors from an Orange Zone country
Unvaccinated travelers from orange zone countries must meet the following restrictions to enter St Barts:
• A compelling reason
• Negative PCR test taken within 72 hours or Antigen test taken within 48 hours.
• Self-isolation or minimize contact with people outside for 7 days following by a viral test at the end of this period.
Unvaccinated visitors from an orange zone country can explore St Barts, go to the beaches, town, perform hikes and other sports if they agree to wear masks when visiting town, and stay away from crowded places. For unvaccinated people, It is not permitted to visit restaurants and boutiques during a 7-day self-isolation.
Vaccinated and Unvaccinated visitors from a Red Zone country
Visitors from red zone countries are banned from entering St Barts unless they provide:
• Negative PCR test taken within 48 hours
• Proof of compelling reason for their visit
Compelling reason such as:
• Personal or family
• Health emergency
• Professional/business that cannot be postponed
Unvaccinated travelers from a Red Zone shall self-isolate for 10 days upon arrival and a viral test must be performed at the end of quarantine.
Required documents to enter St Barts
TRANSIT THROUGH ST MAARTEN AIRPORT (SXM)
In addition to the restrictions and requirements previously stated, a mandatory electronic pre-arrival health authorization form for St Maarten must be submitted when transiting through the airport. Test results must be uploaded on their website and acceptance received must be shown to the authorities at St Maarten Princess Juliana Airport (SXM) before boarding the plane. Without this acceptance form, boarding will be refused.
Please note that authorization approval can take up to 12 hours. The form must therefore be submitted immediately after receiving a negative viral test. If notification is not received in 12 hours, it is advised to check your spam email. This form must be submitted for travel in both directions, except when returning to the USA (it is not necessary at this time to upload the test for your return trip).
It is not mandatory to purchase health insurance for St Maarten if you are in transit. However, if you stay overnight in St. Martin, you will be required to purchase travel insurance for the cost of $30. Upon purchasing this insurance, you will receive, via email, an entry authorization to be completed.
TRANSIT THROUGH SAN JUAN AIRPORT (SJU)
All tourists 11 + years old traveling via San Juan are required to have a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure or negative Antigen taken within 48 hours prior to arrival. If travelers stay in Puerto Rico overnight, they must submit this online travel declaration form.
St Barts Entry Eligibility

Compelling reasons must be presented and submitted prior to boarding along with negative PCR taken within 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival or a negative Antigen test taken in less than 48 hours ( 2 days).
