Five centuries ago, Christopher Columbus discovered an island only just emerging from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, like a rough diamond being cut by nature. Thus, Ouanalao became St Barthelemy.
Coming from Brittany, Normandy, or the Kingdom of Sweden, indefatigable pioneers settled on the island despite terrible hardships, bestowing upon it a character quite singular. Then, founders of great dynasties, eccentric explorers and visionary entrepreneurs, shaped this unique island into a dazzling jewel of a thousand facets. And St Barthelemy became St Barts.
